ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be considered as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, all applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the start of service
  • Must be a citizen of the country where they are applying to serve
  • Must hold a university degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Must be willing and able to serve for the full one-year service period in rural and remote communities
  • Must understand that volunteerism is an altruistic act, without expectation of financial gain
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have at least three traceable professional references who can speak to their academic, professional, or extracurricular experience
  • Must show a genuine understanding of CorpsAfrica and its mission

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, you will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities during your one-year service:

  1. Live and work full-time in an assigned rural and remote community within your country
  2. Identify community needs and priorities through direct engagement with local community members
  3. Design and implement small-scale, sustainable development projects that address local needs
  4. Work across sectors such as health, education, agriculture, water and sanitation, environment, and gender
  5. Integrate into the community and build meaningful, trust-based relationships with local residents
  6. Develop and submit project proposals and implementation plans
  7. Monitor and evaluate the progress and outcomes of your community projects
  8. Maintain regular check-ins and communication with CorpsAfrica country staff
  9. Participate in all required training programmes, workshops, and mentorship sessions
  10. Serve as an ambassador of CorpsAfrica's mission and values throughout your service year

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

While CorpsAfrica uses an online application form, you will need to prepare and have ready the following information and materials:

  • A completed online application form (submitted via the official CorpsAfrica portal)
  • Written essays clearly expressing your motivation, skills, and commitment to serve
  • At least three (3) professional references with valid and traceable contact information
  • Proof of citizenship of the country where you are applying to serve
  • Evidence of a university degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Any additional documents or information requested during the application or interview process

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Applying to become a CorpsAfrica Volunteer is straightforward. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Stay Informed: Follow CorpsAfrica on social media or subscribe to their email newsletter to receive updates on when applications open in your country
  2. Check for Openings: Visit the official application page at www.corpsafrica.org/apply to see which countries are currently recruiting
  3. Submit Your Application: Complete the online application during the open recruitment cycle for your country, highlighting your skills, experience, and motivation
  4. Application Review: Your written essays and professional references are reviewed by the country office selection committee
  5. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are invited to participate in an interview, either in person or virtually
  6. Offer Letter: Successful candidates receive a formal offer letter via email from the Country Director
  7. Pre-Service Training (PST): Selected volunteers attend an intensive training programme focused on community integration, project design, leadership, and programme readiness
  8. Begin Service: Your one-year transformational volunteer service officially begins!
