Position Overview.

Role: Protection Officer (3 Positions Available)
Location: Refugee camps and urban settings across Rwanda
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed Term with Extension Possibility
Reporting To: Project Coordinator

What You'll Be Doing.

As a Protection Officer, you'll be the bridge between vulnerable refugee communities and the protection services they need. Your work will directly impact lives through:

Community Engagement

You'll spend time in refugee communities, conducting assessments to identify protection needs and risks. Through awareness-raising sessions and capacity-building activities, you'll empower communities to identify and address their own protection concerns. Building strong relationships with community leaders and stakeholders will be central to your success.

Case Management

Every refugee has a unique story and unique needs. You'll provide individual and group counseling, develop personalized protection plans, and coordinate with other service providers to ensure comprehensive support for each case you handle.

Monitoring and Advocacy

Your observations and documentation will help shape protection strategies and responses. You'll prepare regular reports on protection activities, trends, and challenges, contributing to evidence-based decision-making that improves outcomes for refugees.

Capacity Building

Knowledge sharing is power. You'll develop and deliver training sessions for both community members and staff, promoting community-led protection initiatives and fostering self-help mechanisms.

Collaboration

Protection work is a team effort. You'll collaborate closely with UNHCR, MINEMA, and other implementing partners, participate in coordination meetings, and represent PFR in community forums and advocacy efforts.

Who Should Apply?

Educational Requirements

You'll need a bachelor's degree in one of these fields:

• Law
• Political Science
• Social Work
• Project Management
• Human Resources Management
• Conflict/Peace Studies
• Other relevant fields

A master's degree will give you an added advantage.
