Are you passionate about healthcare and looking for a fully funded opportunity to pursue your undergraduate studies in Rwanda? Here is an exciting chance you cannot afford to miss. Mount Kigali University (MKU), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), has officially announced funded scholarship opportunities for two in-demand health science programmes. Applications are open right now but the window is very short!

About This Scholarship

This scholarship is offered under the framework of Rwanda's 4X4 Strategy Initiative, a government-driven effort to strengthen the country's healthcare system by investing in skilled health professionals. Mount Kigali University, one of Rwanda's leading private universities, is proud to partner with the Ministry of Health to make quality health education accessible to deserving students.

The scholarship covers tuition fees for the full duration of the programme.

Available Programmes

Two undergraduate programmes are available under this scholarship:

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences — 4 Years
• Bachelor of Science in Dental Therapy — 4 Years

Both programmes are offered at Mount Kigali University's School of Nursing and Health Sciences, located in Kicukiro, Gatenga, Kigali.

Application Period: 6th May 2026 – 15th May 2026

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Completed General Secondary Education (Senior Six) with at least one of the following principal subjects:
  • Physics
  • Chemistry-Biology
  • Mathematics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Geography
  • Associate Nursing Programme
• Must meet the minimum entry requirements set by the Higher Education Council of Rwanda (HEC)
• Must meet institutional requirements of Mount Kigali University

Admission Test & Selection Process

1. Shortlisted candidates who meet the minimum requirements will sit for an Admission Test on Monday, 18th May 2026
2. Final scholarship beneficiaries will be selected based on their admission test scores

Important Notes

• Selected students will be required to sign a service contract with the Ministry of Health, committing to serve in Rwanda's healthcare system for a designated period after graduation
• Students currently receiving another government scholarship are not eligible
• Students who have already graduated from another university are not eligible
• Any false information or violation of application requirements will result in immediate disqualification and possible additional sanctions

How to Apply Step by Step

Follow these simple steps to complete your application online:

1. Prepare your documents: Scan your High School Certificate and National ID using CamScanner or any scanning app. Take a passport-size photo
2. Save all three items: High School Certificate, National ID, and passport photo on your phone or email them to yourself for easy access on a computer
3. Visit the application portal at 👉 https://admission.mkur.ac.rw (You need an active Gmail account)
4. Fill in your details: Full name, country of origin, and Gmail address
5. Verify your email: Click Send OTP, check your Gmail inbox (or Spam folder), copy the 4-digit OTP, and paste it to verify
6. Enter your phone number and create a password (Example: Application@123)
7. Select your province and district, tick the "I'm not a robot" checkbox, then click Register
8. Log in using your Gmail and password
9. Once logged in, click All → Undergraduate to view available programmes
10. In the search box, type "Dental Therapy" or "Medical Laboratory Sciences" and click the Apply button
11. In the Address Line 1 field, type: APP-Dental Therapy or APP-Medical Laboratory Sciences
12. Note down your application number it appears at the top of your application form

Tip: If you experience any difficulty applying online, visit the MKU Admission Office in Kicukiro, Gatenga with physical copies of your documents for in-person support.
