Croatian Government Scholarships 2026/2027  The Light of Engineering

Applications are now open for the Croatian Government Scholarships 2026/2027, offering excellent opportunities for international students, researchers, university teachers, and scientists to study or conduct research in Croatia. These fully supported mobility scholarships are designed to promote academic exchange and international cooperation across a wide range of fields. 

The scholarship program is funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth of the Republic of Croatia in collaboration with the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes. Through this initiative, successful candidates will undertake their studies or research at accredited public higher education institutions or research institutes in Croatia during the academic year from October 2026 to September 2027.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Open to international students, researchers, and academic staff
  • Applicants must meet the requirements of one of the two application pools
  • For Application Pool 1, applicants must be from countries with bilateral agreements with Croatia
  • For Application Pool 2, applicants must be studying Croatian language or Slavic studies
  • Nomination by relevant authorities or professors is required depending on the application pool

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

The scholarship offers various study and research opportunities under two application pools:

Application Pool 1: Bilateral Agreements

  • Croatian language study (4–5 months)
  • Semester studies (Bachelor's or Master's) (4–10 months)
  • Full undergraduate (BA) or graduate (MA) programs
  • Full PhD programs (36 months)
  • Partial PhD studies or research (1–10 months)
  • Postdoctoral research (1–10 months)
  • Short postdoctoral visits (3–29 days)
  • Summer seminar in Croatian language and culture (2 weeks)

Application Pool 2: Croatian Language Scholarships

  • One-semester Croatian language studies (4–5 months)
  • Summer seminar in Croatian language, literature, and culture (2 weeks)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Application Pool 1

  • Completed online application form
  • Required documents in English or Croatian
  • Nomination Letter from the relevant foreign partner institution

Application Pool 2

  • Completed online application form
  • Required documents in English or Croatian
  • Recommendation Letter from a Croatian language professor

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

  • Submit your application through the official online application system of the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes
  • Ensure all required documents are uploaded in English or Croatian
  • For Application Pool 1, your nomination must be submitted by your country's relevant authority
  • For Application Pool 2, include a recommendation letter from your Croatian language instructor
  • Only complete and properly submitted applications will be considered

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The scholarship period runs from October 2026 to September 2027
  • July and August are generally excluded, except for the summer seminar in August 2026
  • The number of scholarships varies depending on bilateral agreements between Croatia and participating countries
  • Applicants from eligible countries such as China, Germany, Italy, Türkiye, Greece, and others can apply under bilateral agreements
