Ntare Louisenlund School in Bugesera is looking for dedicated Kitchen Stewards and Kitchen Waiters to join their world-class facilities team

Position 1: Kitchen Steward

What You'll Do Daily

Keep Everything Clean:

  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to spotless standards
  • Clean kitchen floors, counters, and prep areas throughout your shift
  • Make sure everything meets health and safety requirements

Support the Kitchen Team:

  • Help prepare ingredients (washing, peeling, chopping)
  • Set up and pack down serving areas for meals
  • Restock supplies and keep storage organized
  • Jump in during busy meal times to keep things running smoothly

Other Duties:

  • Manage waste disposal and recycling properly
  • Report any maintenance issues to your supervisor
  • Sometimes help serve meals to students and staff
  • Train new team members on cleaning procedures

What You Need

  • Previous kitchen or food service experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical fitness (you'll be lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods)
  • Detail-oriented with high standards for cleanliness

Position 2: Kitchen Waiter

What You'll Do Daily

Create Great Dining Experiences:

  • Set up dining areas before meals (tables, serving stations)
  • Greet students and staff warmly when they arrive
  • Serve food and drinks efficiently while following portion guidelines
  • Answer questions about menu items and dietary needs

Keep the Dining Hall Running Smoothly:

  • Maintain cleanliness throughout meal service
  • Clear and reset tables quickly between services
  • Work with kitchen staff to coordinate meal service
  • Handle special requests and concerns professionally

Other Responsibilities:

  • Help with special events and catering when needed
  • Join team meetings and share improvement ideas
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene rules
  • Assist in training new waiters

What You Need

  • Food service or hospitality experience (preferred)
  • Strong people skills and friendly personality
  • Ability to stay positive in fast-paced situations
  • Flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends)
  • Understanding of basic food safety practices
  • Ability to stand for long periods and multitask during busy times
