The Department of Human Resources is pleased to announce an exciting career opportunity for the position of Brewer. We are inviting qualified candidates who are passionate about brewing excellence and quality production to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview

As a Brewer, you will play a crucial role in our production process, taking full responsibility for handling all stages of brewing from milling and mashing to filtration, boiling, cooling, and aeration. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Competencies & Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of brewing processes, including milling and wort transfer
  • Scientific Understanding: Knowledge of starch, sugars, enzymes, and their organic and chemical actions
  • Quality Control: Ability to measure and control pH and temperature throughout the brewing process
  • Chemical Expertise: Understanding of acids, bases, and their physical and chemical properties
  • IT Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Technical Skills: Fundamental knowledge of electricity, mechanics, and automation systems
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and/or English is an added advantage

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating and monitoring the complete brewing process from start to finish
  • Calculating critical metrics including yield, dilution, and evaporation rates, while maintaining accurate brewing records
  • Quality assurance by checking raw material quality and quantities before each brewing cycle
  • Coordinating CIP (Clean-In-Place) cleaning of brewhouse equipment with the cleaning team
  • Ensuring compliance with all manufacturing procedures and safety protocols
  • Team supervision of Millers, Miller Assistants, cleaners, and daily casual workers
