Applications Open for the BPR Bank IGIRE Scholarship Programme 2026

BPR Bank Rwanda, in partnership with the National Youth Council (NYC), has officially opened applications for the IGIRE Scholarship Programme 2026, a vocational training initiative designed to empower Rwandan youth with practical skills for employment and self-employment.

The scholarship aims to equip young people with market-relevant Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) skills through fully sponsored training programs offered at selected Rwanda Polytechnic colleges across the country.

About the IGIRE Scholarship Programme

The IGIRE Scholarship Programme is a vocational skills development initiative that supports eligible Rwandan youth to acquire practical and technical skills in high-demand sectors. The programme is funded by BPR Bank Rwanda and implemented in collaboration with the National Youth Council.

The training period is limited to a maximum of six months and focuses on preparing participants for entrepreneurship, self-employment, and job opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Requirement

  • Must be a Rwandan youth aged between 18 and 30 years.

Residency Requirement

  • Must reside in the district where the training will be conducted.

Educational Requirement

  • Must have completed Secondary School or Twelve-Year Basic Education (12YBE) within the last two years.

Academic Background

  • Must have completed studies in a combination related to the course being applied for.

Previous Training

  • Must not have previously studied a vocational training programme.

Employment Status

  • Must be unemployed.
  • Must not be enrolled in any other educational programme.

Availability

  • Must be available to attend a six-month TVET training programme.

Commitment Requirement

  • Must be willing to refund 50% of school fees if they voluntarily drop out of the programme.

Financial Responsibility

Must be able to cover personal expenses such as:

  • Food
  • Transportation
  • Accommodation (where applicable)

Banking Requirement

  • Must be willing to open a BPR Bank Student Account upon selection.

Compliance Requirement

  • Must agree to observe all regulations governing the training programme.

Applicants may apply for only one course from the following options:

1. Culinary Arts (Ubuhanga mu guteka)

  • Training Institution: RP Karongi College

2. Food Processing (Ubuhanga mu gutunganya ibiribwa)

  • Training Institution: RP Musanze College

3. Welding (Ubuhanga mu gusudira)

  • Training Institution: RP Tumba College

4. Electronic Devices Repair and Maintenance (Ubuhanga mu gusana ibikoresho by’ikoranabuhanga)

  • Training Institution: RP Tumba College

5. Domestic Electrical Installation (Ubuhanga mu by’amashanyarazi)

  • Training Institution: RP Gishali College

6. Plumbing (Ubuhanga mu gutunganya imiyoboro y’amazi)

  • Training Institution: RP Kigali College

7. Tailoring and Designing (Ubudozi n’Imideri)

  • Training Institution: RP Kigali College

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents:

Mandatory Documents

  • Completed IGIRE Scholarship Application Form.
  • Passport-size photograph.
  • Copy of National Identity Card.
  • Copy of Secondary School Certificate or 12YBE Certificate.
  • Highest Academic Qualification Certificate.

Applicants will also be required to present original copies of these documents during the verification process.

Failure to provide the required documents will result in automatic disqualification.
