Recruitment of Law Enforcement Rangers

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB), in partnership with African Parks, has announced a new recruitment drive for 96 Law Enforcement Rangers who will be deployed across the country’s national parks.
Rwanda is globally recognized for its strong commitment to environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and eco-tourism. National parks such as Akagera, Nyungwe, Volcanoes, and Gishwati-Mukura continue to play a key role in protecting wildlife while creating sustainable livelihoods. To strengthen these efforts, new rangers are being recruited to support law enforcement and conservation activities.
Rwanda continues to lead in biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management through strong government commitment and community involvement. The country has made notable progress in ecosystem restoration, wildlife protection, and eco-tourism development. National parks such as Volcanoes, Akagera, Nyungwe, and Gishwati-Mukura are thriving under effective management and partnerships.
To further strengthen conservation efforts, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), in collaboration with African Parks, is inviting qualified Rwandan candidates to apply for the position of Law Enforcement Rangers. This recruitment aims to enhance park protection, improve wildlife security, and support sustainable conservation initiatives.
Job Details
- Position: Law Enforcement Ranger
- Duty Stations: Akagera, Nyungwe, Volcanoes, and Gishwati-Mukura National Parks
- Number of Positions: 96
- Reporting To: Law Enforcement Warden
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Conduct field patrols according to approved plans
- Detect, prevent, and report illegal activities
- Monitor wildlife and report observations
- Record data using GPS equipment
- Support fire prevention and management
- Assist in human-wildlife conflict mitigation
- Collaborate with relevant park teams
- Contribute to overall ecosystem protection
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a Senior Six (A2) certificate or TVET qualification
- Be aged between 20 and 28 years
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong physical fitness and endurance
- Ability to work in outdoor and remote environments
- High discipline and professionalism
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights
Added Advantages
- Experience in conservation or related fields
- Knowledge of GPS devices
- First aid training
- Motorcycle driving license
- Prior experience in security services
Language Requirements
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda
- Working knowledge of English or French
