GOVERNMENT OF INDIA ICCR SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are now open for the 2026 Government of India ICCR Scholarship for international students who wish to pursue higher education in India. The scholarship is offered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an autonomous body under the Ministry of External Affairs of India. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To qualify for the ICCR Postgraduate Scholarship, applicants must:

Be at least 18 years old
Meet the age limits:
- Maximum 35 years for UG/PG/Diploma courses
- Maximum 40 years for PhD programs
Possess a valid passport with at least 2 years validity as of 1 July 2026
Demonstrate proficiency in English (spoken and written)
Submit a 500-word essay in English via the application portal
Meet academic requirements for their chosen course
Provide English proficiency test scores (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) if available
For science/engineering programs: have studied relevant subjects (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology) at high school level

Additional Notes:

PIO/OCI applicants must meet specific study location requirements
False information (e.g., date of birth) leads to automatic disqualification

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

The scholarship supports structured academic programs (minimum one year) at the following levels:

Undergraduate (UG)
Postgraduate (PG)
PhD
Certificate/Diploma (only in Indian Languages, Performing Arts, and Yoga)

Fields include:

Engineering
Agriculture
Management
Arts and Humanities
Indian Classical Music, Dance, Yoga, Ayurveda

Not Eligible Fields:

Medical and para-medical courses (e.g., Nursing, Physiotherapy)
Law programs
Integrated courses (e.g., BALLB, BSc + MSc)
Short-term courses

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants must prepare and submit the following:

Passport-size photograph (white background)
Valid passport and visa
Academic certificates and transcripts (original + English translations)
Certified syllabus of last qualification
Proof of English proficiency (if available)
Scholarship award letter (after selection)
Signed undertakings (acceptance of course and scholarship terms)
PhD applicants: research proposal/synopsis
Performing arts applicants: video/YouTube link of performance

Select up to 5 preferred universities/institutions and courses
Upload all required documents
Submit the application before the deadline

Selection Process:

Universities review applications and grant admission

Candidates must accept the offer within 7 days and upload medical fitness documents

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Scholarships are only valid for institutions approved by ICCR
Change of course or university after selection is not allowed
Admission does not guarantee scholarship award
MBA applicants may need GMAT scores (depending on institution)
PhD research should ideally be conducted within India
