Kivu Choice Founded in 2022, Kivu Choice is the sister company to Victory Farms, East Africa's leading aquaculture platform based in Kenya. Operating on the shores of Lake Kivu in Rwanda, the company runs a fully vertically integrated model from hatchery to cage grow-out, processing, distribution, and sales.
Over the next five years, Kivu Choice aims to become Africa's largest and most sustainable protein producer, targeting 30,000 tons of fish annually for the Rwandan market and for export across the region. Currently Open Positions
Kivu Choice is currently recruiting for three key roles across different departments. Here is a breakdown of each opportunity:
1. 🔧 Marine Mechanical Engineer
- Level: Senior (5+ years)
- Department: Farming
- Reports to: Director of Farming
This is a leadership role for an experienced mechanical engineer who thrives in hands-on, high-impact environments.
What you'll do: You will oversee all maintenance operations across three critical areas the vehicle fleet (trucks), the boat fleet (outboard engines), and the cold chain equipment (refrigerated trucks, ice machines, reefers). You will lead a team of dedicated technicians, build preventive maintenance schedules, manage spare parts inventory, and ensure everything runs smoothly so that high-quality fish gets to market without interruption.
Who should apply:
- You hold a Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
- You have at least 6–7 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in an industrial or agri-processing setting.
- You have technical knowledge of vehicle mechanics, marine engines, and cold chain/electrical systems.
- You are comfortable with MS Office and inventory management systems. ERP/ERPNext experience is a strong bonus.
- You communicate well in both English and Kinyarwanda.
2. 👥 HR Operations Lead
- Level: Entry Level (1–3 years)
- Department: Human Resources
- Reports to: HR Manager
This is a great opportunity for an early-career HR professional who wants to grow in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization.
What you'll do: You will be the operational backbone of the HR function managing employee records, supporting payroll preparation, handling onboarding and offboarding logistics, responding to employee HR queries, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and internal HR policies. You will also support the use of HR systems and help keep data accurate and secure.
Who should apply:
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
- You have 1–3 years of HR or HR administrative experience. Recent graduates with strong internship or volunteer experience in HR will also be considered.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- You have a basic understanding of labor law, HR compliance, and documentation standards.
- You are organized, process-oriented, and eager to grow into a strategic HR role over time.
3. 🛡️ Security Manager
- Level: Senior (5+ years)
- Location: Kagano Farm Site
- Reports to: Group Security Director
A senior leadership role for a seasoned security professional with strong operational and people management experience.
What you'll do: You will lead and manage the entire security function at Kivu Choice's farm from developing and implementing security policies and SOPs, to overseeing surveillance systems, controlling access, managing a team of guards and control room staff, investigating incidents, and coordinating with local authorities when needed. You will also work closely with farm operations to protect high-value assets and prevent losses.
Who should apply:
- You have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in security operations, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in agricultural, industrial, or large-scale property environments is highly desirable.
- A background in the military, police, or private security firms is an added advantage.
- You are proficient in modern security technologies including CCTV systems, access control, and incident reporting tools.
- You are fluent in English and Kiswahili.
- You are available to be on-site at least 80% of the time and on-call for emergencies.
