The Role: Female School Caretaker

The Female School Caretaker position is a meaningful, hands-on role designed for a mature and responsible professional who genuinely cares about the well-being of young women in a boarding or residential school setting. You will be a mentor, a guardian, a listener, and a problem-solver all in one.

Requirements & Skills

Riviera High School is looking for a candidate who meets the following qualifications and brings the right values and skills to the team.

Academic & Professional Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in any field (A0)
• Specialized training in youth management or First Aid is a strong added advantage
• Experience working with young people in a school or residential setting is highly valued

Mentorship & Student Support

• Provide positive mentorship to students through modeling respect, emotional regulation, and self-discipline
• Help students navigate personal, social, and academic challenges such as homesickness, stress, and peer pressure
• Be someone students feel safe approaching a genuine, caring presence in their daily lives

Role Model & Community Building

• Act as a primary caregiver and role model in the dormitory community
• Offer guidance, a listening ear, and emotional support to students outside of class hours
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive dorm environment where every student feels valued

Crisis & Emergency Management

• Serve as the first point of contact for student issues, conflicts, and emergencies especially during out-of-class hours
• Respond calmly, quickly, and professionally to any situation that arises
• Apply sound crisis management and conflict resolution skills when needed

Safety & Wellbeing

• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of female learners at all times in dormitories, during activities, and on school trips
• Be caring and approachable while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries at all times

Confidentiality & Integrity

• Handle sensitive student and family information with absolute discretion and professionalism
• Demonstrate high levels of confidentiality and trustworthiness in every aspect of the role

Communication & Teamwork

• Possess effective communication, organizational, and time management skills
• Collaborate seamlessly with a diverse and professional staff team
• Contribute positively to the broader school community and culture

Child Protection

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to child protection and safety this is a core, non-negotiable requirement of the role
