 Job Overview: ECD Teacher Assistant

Position: Early Childhood Development Teacher Assistant
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Kigali, Rwanda (Gasabo District)
Workplace Type: Onsite
Experience Required: Minimum 3 years

As an ECD Teacher Assistant, you will work closely with the Homeroom Teacher to support children’s learning, safety, and emotional well-being using play-based and child-centered teaching approaches.

📌 Key Responsibilities

 Teaching & Learning Support

  • Assist in daily lesson implementation
  • Support individual learners and small groups
  • Prepare and organize teaching materials
  • Encourage children’s language, social, and emotional development

 Child Care & Well-being

  • Supervise children during class, playtime, meals, and transitions
  • Ensure hygiene, safety, and positive behavior
  • Support daily routines such as handwashing and tidying up

 Classroom Environment

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom
  • Help set up creative and engaging learning areas

 Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with teachers and school leadership
  • Observe and share children’s progress
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and school activities

🎓 Qualifications & Skills Required

To be successful in this role, candidates should have:

  • A Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Development or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience working with young children
  • Strong understanding of play-based learning
  • Excellent communication skills (English and/or French)
  • Patience, warmth, and a genuine passion for children
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Experience in a bilingual or international school is an added advantage
