JOB BRIEF

The MRM Assistant supports the Junior Geologist and Junior Surveyor in completing all daily tasks, both underground and on surface. This is a physically demanding role involving lifting and carrying heavy equipment and samples, as well as walking and climbing. Each assistant may be assigned different tasks but must be familiar with all geological and survey day-to-day processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Field & Survey Support:

• Assist Geologists and Surveyors in underground and surface surveying
• Assist in mapping surface and underground features
• Ensure the Surveyor has a clear line of sight to the prism when using a Total Station
• Drill holes in rock to install survey pegs

Equipment Management:

• Prepare equipment for daily tasks
• Carry equipment to and from locations where the Geologist or Surveyor operates
• Safeguard all equipment when underground or in the field
• Clean and store equipment after daily tasks

Sample Processing:

• Participate in sample preparation including weighing, crushing, mechanical sieving, riffle splitting, cone quartering, panning, and packaging
• Collect and carry samples from designated collection areas

Reporting & Compliance:

• Accurately report measurements to the Junior Geologist and Junior Surveyor
• Ensure safe working conditions and proper use of PPE
• Comply with all Company Policies and Procedures
• Perform any reasonable ad hoc tasks required by the Technical Services Department or Management

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

• High School Certificate
• Minimum 1 year experience in an Underground Mining Environment
• Basic knowledge of geological processes
